Park Place Technologies is taking proactive steps to prepare clients for Hurricane Zeta, which is tracking toward the Gulf Coast, with 90-mph sustained winds. AccuWeather meteorologists reported Zeta could reach Category 2 force as it nears the Gulf Coast. Hurricane-force winds extended out from the Zeta’s center about 35 miles and tropical-storm-force winds reached 150 miles out.
When Zeta reaches shore, it will be the fifth named storm to hit the Louisiana coast this hurricane season, and the 11th to strike the country as a whole – a national record.
In addition to New Orleans, hurricane warnings are effect along the Gulf Coast from central Louisiana eastward to the Mississippi-Alabama border and tropical storm watches have been issued northward through Atlanta.
“We anticipate a slight loss of wind intensity shortly before landfall, but we still expect Zeta to be a Category 1 hurricane at the time of landfall late Wednesday afternoon,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Adam Douty said.
