Park Place monitoring Super Typhoon Hagibis, California power outages, Central Plains blizzard

A number of imminent events are being monitored by Park Place Technologies, including Super Typhoon Hagibis, California power outages and a U.S. Central Plain blizzard.
Park Place Technologies is taking proactive steps to prepare clients for Super Typhoon Hagibis. The storm in the northwestern Pacific Ocean has sustained winds of 155 mph and gusts up to 180 mph. It could strike Japan this weekend with winds at 100 mph or higher. A typhoon warning is in effect for Alamagan and Pagan islands in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, where damaging winds of up to 50 mph are forecast through early Wednesday. The agency also issued a tropical storm warning for Agrihan Island.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck, N.D., is referring to a “potentially historic October winter storm.” The winter storm is set to unleash double-digit snowfall totals across a wide swath of the northern Plains and Rockies through Friday. Along with heavy snow comes strong winds and near-blizzard conditions. Winter storm warnings stretch from Wyoming and Montana through western Nebraska, then eastward into the Dakotas to the Canadian border. This is ahead of the sprawling storm system, an atmospheric mixer combining a shot of wintry air with a tongue of tropical moisture.
Associated Press reports “More than a million people in California are without electricity as the state’s largest utility pulled the plug to prevent a repeat of the past two years when windblown power lines sparked deadly wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes. PG&E had warned that it planned to expand the outages to about 250,000 other customers later in the day to prevent its equipment from sparking wildfires during winds that are forecast to build. About 2 million people were expected to be affected for up to several days.”
