Sealed Air Transforms Network Operations with Entuity
Case Studies
THE MISSION: REDUCE ADMINISTRATIVE OVERHEAD, IMPROVE OBSERVABILITY
The legacy tool had become difficult to maintain. Software updates were complex, and the IT organization was dissatisfied with the guidance it received from the vendor’s support team.
Monitoring requirements had also outgrown what the tool could deliver. The team needed hypervisor-level monitoring, stronger cloud and SaaS coverage, certificate expiration monitoring, and interface-level visibility into its software-defined WAN. It also needed to move from reactive to proactive: the legacy tool handled up-down status, but proactive alerting and anomaly detection weren’t in the system.
1,200 DEVICES NOBODY KNEW WERE THERE
The migration itself was straightforward. The team exported every known device from the legacy tool and imported them into Entuity in bulk.
Then they configured Entuity’s auto-discovery to look beyond the wireless controllers. It surfaced roughly 1,200 additional devices across the company’s 250 sites. Until Entuity found them, every one was unmonitored.
This is the part of tool sprawl that rarely makes the business case. The cost isn’t only running multiple platforms — it’s that nobody can say with confidence what’s actually being watched.
DEDICATED SUPPORT THROUGH THE TRANSITION
From proof of concept through post-production, Sealed Air worked with a dedicated Entuity engineer rather than working through documentation and community posts. As the company’s director for global IT operations excellence noted, the difference was having “an engineer engaged with us directly.” The IT team continues weekly calls with Entuity engineers and support staff.
OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS
Dashboards and reports built around who needs them. IT operations personnel build single-pane-of-glass views of critical information and alerts, and schedule reports by email for stakeholders who don’t want to watch a dashboard all day.
Event correlation that produces one ticket, not fifty. The team configured Entuity to roll dependent alerts up into major incidents. When a core switch fails and takes a site with it, Entuity consolidates the alarms from downstream devices into a single incident and — through its ServiceNow integration — opens one ticket. Support teams respond to the root cause instead of triaging noise.
Site-to-site performance visibility. Given the global footprint, the team uses Entuity’s SurePath to understand point-to-point connectivity and measure response times from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
NEXT STEPS: AUTOMATION AND PREDICTIVE OPERATIONS
Sealed Air is moving toward automated responses to events, restarting failed processes, clearing temporary files before they cause crashes, and toward predictive observability that flags problems like impending disk exhaustion before they become incidents.
