Web clinic reports broad range of expected outcomes for AI

CLEVELAND, OH, October 7, 2018 — A new web clinic presented by Forrester and Park Place Technologies reported that expected Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Drivers encompass a broad spectrum of outcomes, ranging from improving online security and operational efficiency to increasing worker productivity and revenue growth.
“Enhancing IT Operations with Artificial Intelligence” was presented to a global audience on Oct. 2, 2018. Kjell Carlsson, Ph.D., Senior Analyst for Forrester, a market research company that provides advice on existing and potential impacts of technology, hosted the web clinic with Paul Mercina, Director of Product Management for Park Place Technologies, the world’s largest post-warranty IT data center maintenance firm.

Carlsson, citing Forrester Data Global Business Technographics Data and Analytics Surveys from 2016-18, said interest in implementing AI “is real.” Survey respondents were most interested in operational efficiencies such as implementing greater levels of automation of internal processes, improving online and physical security and attaining greater levels of automation of customer-facing services. Expected core business outcomes include increased revenue growth, improved ability to anticipate and respond to the competitive market, and better customer experience.
There are challenges to AI growth, Carlsson said, citing a lack of belief in a clear ROI to AI, lack of internal skills to implement AI, and workforce concerns about job security, among many others.
Data centers are rife with opportunities for AI-driven services such as ParkView, which reduce effort, react faster, prevent problems and guide solutions.
