Dell EqualLogic devices creeping up on EOSL

Park Place Hardware Maintenance

A number of legacy Dell EqualLogic systems will reach the end of service life (EOSL) period fairly soon. The official EOSL date for the PS5000 systems is August 19, 2014. Furthermore, the PS50-PS3000 series devices will hit EOSL even sooner, on August 18, 2013. While the EOSL dates are clear, many of the parameters of the announcement have been unclear, creating confusion.

A discussion about the issue on Dell forums showed a number of users who were unsure of how to handle the Dell EOSL announcement. Park Place Technologies inquired into the issue and found clear verification that Dell support will only remain valid on legacy devices until August 18, 2013.

The EqualLogic systems in the PS50-PS3000 series fit into the category of legacy hardware.

For IT managers still depending on EqualLogic systems, the implications of the EOSL announcement can be considerable. However, there are alternatives to refreshing hardware in light of an EOSL announcement. IT leaders can turn to a third-party hardware maintenance and operating system support solution to extend the life of their systems beyond the EOSL date.

To learn more about how third-party hardware maintenance can help IT managers support hardware for the longest period possible, call a Park Place Technologies representative at 877-778-8707 or request a quote.
