Storage machines reach end of service life soon

IBM announced that as of March 31, 2016, IBM DS8100 and DS8300 storage machines will have reached their end of service life (EOSL) and will no longer be supported. The DS6800 storage device, which was considered the smaller sister to the DS8100 and DS8300 family, has already reached its EOSL as of September 30, 2015.

When data center hardware reaches the EOSL period of their lifecycle, OEMs no longer sell or offer support. IT managers have options when it comes to hardware EOSL including hardware refresh or DIY maintenance, but they can extend the life of their IBM storage equipment by investing in reliable IBM maintenance offered by third-party data center hardware maintenance providers like Park Place Technologies.

To stay up-to-date on when data center hardware equipment reaches important lifecycle phases, search Park Place’s EOSL library and sign up for the latest EOSL notifications.
